There Isn't Much in Our Control

As I type this, it is Tuesday Nov 5th, which here in the US is Election Day. There has been a lot of emotions, thoughts, and worries leading up to this day (and an overabundance of mailers and campaign text messages).

Politics and the media will have you believe that there is a whole lot of things wrong with the world and that can feel really overwhelming and create feelings of helplessness. How can just I, one person, make any difference in the problems of our country and our world? The reality is we can't, when all by ourselves. But how I and each one of you reading this show up each day is what creates the ripple effect.

A smart man I know once said it's more important what happens in your house than the White House. There is no denying that our government plays a large role in our lives, but at the end of the day I have to remind myself (again and again) that ultimately how my husband and I take care of ourselves and our kids is the most important thing. We're raising the next generation of voting citizens. The foundation that we can create for them will make all the difference for the trajectory of their lives and how their generation takes care of our country.

My takeaway from this election day is that no matter the outcome, all I can do is continue to show up each day and take care of myself and my family, and have a heavy amount of trust that our country will be taken care of.

I hope that you too, can have some peace with it all and the fears and worries that have been plaguing your mind will soon be relieved.

And if not, a visit to your chiropractor might be a bit helpful ;)
