Motherhood Musings: Keeping My Peace

My mantra going into 2026 has been what can I do to keep my peace? There is a never ending list of things in our lives that scream for our attention (sometimes quite literally ahem toddlers). If I'm not careful, that noise fills up my thoughts and creates overwhelm. Overwhelm and stressed out are so 2025 feelings. So I have been quite deliberately putting my time and energy into things that bring me peace.
This means music playing I enjoy during the day.
Working out regularly.
Cleaning the kitchen each evening before bed.
Making my bed each morning.
Spending less time scrolling Instagram.
Reading my book every day.
Going for walks on the weekends by myself.
Being less of a manager in my marriage.
Playing games and reading books with my kids.
Using my business as a creative outlet.
Reaching out to friends to hang out in person or check in via text.
Regular bodywork through chiropractic care and massages.
There are so many ways in your life that you too, can create your own sense of peace. Social media will have you believing that everyone else's life is better, you are failing somehow, you aren't good enough, the world is falling apart. While the world may genuinely be falling apart, you can only control your own actions. Not even your spouse's. Not even your kids'. Just you.
So my mantra is protect my peace. When I feel peaceful in myself, in my home, and in my practice I've noticed the ripple effect that it has. If you also have been tired of feeling overwhelmed, tired of feeling stressed, tired of being worried about the state of our society at large, I invite you to focus on one thing that brings you a sense of peace and a sense of joy. You will find that you can train your brain to focus on the goodness around you and find peace as your center point.
Okay, now I'm starting to sound like a real yogi here, which I am not haha! I hope that this was a fresh perspective or at least thought-provoking for you, to create a peaceful ripple effect in your life.
