I'm not sure how anyone else's winter has gone so far, but whew the winter doldrums hit! I wasn't sure if it was the post-holiday quiet, seasonal affect, pregnancy hormones, or something else. After going through the motions and doing the things I knew usually helped - working out, taking my supplements, bodywork, journaling, a consistent bedtime - and it still felt like I was in a down state, I started to wonder what was going on!
After talking to a dear friend about my lack of mental energy, she asked if I was doing anything to fill my bucket. On one hand, I was thinking yes I was, because I was doing what I thought I needed to, but on the other I realized what I had been missing was time with friends. Talking with my friends is such an easy, uplifting way to change my mindset. So after some self reflection I decided that was what I needed to be focusing on!
Self care is a bit of a buzzword, but it takes many forms for different people. Filling up your bucket IS self care. Life can be busy, especially as a parent when you are pouring your energy into your spouse and kids, but you can't pour from an empty place.
This is your quick, friendly reminder to love on yourself and do something for yourself too!
