Postpartum Reflections

I've been posting on this blog now for almost 4 years (say what?!) and I'm feeling more drawn to sharing stories from real life, instead of health specific or chiropractic specific posts. Those will always have value but for the past couple of years I've been thinking about writing more about motherhood. There is something beautiful about sharing our stories because through our stories others can see us, know us, and feel understood through our words.

My baby is 7 weeks old and the past handful of weeks have simultaneously been long and fast. Having a child shows you the relativity of time. The saying "the days are long and the years are short" is exceptionally true. This postpartum period has been filled with so much love, tiring, adjustments (both chiropractic and mentally), and peaceful in a way I wasn't expecting. My baby and her disposition has definitely made the transition to 6 kids an easy one. She sleeps great at night, she breastfeeds with ease, and we are loving her smiles and coos!

Each postpartum has taught me the lesson of slowing down and not pushing ahead when my body isn't ready to, although I am always semi-reluctant to learn this lesson. I feel better when I am up and moving around, but as my business mentor has reminded me time and time again, my worth isn't based on my productivity but my presence. Yes it feels great to have the house tidied, laundry done, and tasks checked off the to do list but it really is okay if that doesn't happen every single day. I'm still unlearning the productivity-based worth story.

As I can get back into the swing of blog writing, be on the lookout for a more motherhood/life perspective style of writing as I navigate through the highs and lows of life alongside all of you.:)
